Ahh~ I missed the weather there really. It's a month and a week since my trip to the beautiful Hokkaido. Let's talk about it (:
So, we booked our air ticket with Thai Airways to Chitose for about SGD $406. Can you believe it? They are having a promotion at that time, I mean why wait right? It's half the price! The con is probably that 1 stop over at Bangkok but the stop over timing is just 1.5 hours.
We've booked the flight around December, so shortly after booking, we started to research which route we are going to take. There are too many places of interest to visit and we are driving. So it was decided that we head south and drive one round back to Chitose.
For our transport, we made the booking through www2.tocoo.jp. Toyota wish was our initial choice, but because there are 5 person luggage space in the car is my main concern. For 6 days the rental fees were about 40000 Yen (With Bilingual GPS and HEP ).
YAY~ Let's go~
Day 1
So when we arrived at the airport we took the shuttle service provided by the car rental company. As expected, they didn't allow us to take up Toyota Wish as per our reservation. They mentioned that it does not have enough space for our luggage and Toyota VOXY was recommended. It was a 8 seater so it has plenty of space at the back if we fold the back seats up. Decided Toyota Voxy it is~ the rental was a bit more expensive, but it was a comfortable ride.
For our first meal, it was a BBQ restaurant that my aunt found online. We went to "Wagyu Beef Lodge Restaurant '' which is a 10 to 15 minutes drive from the place we collected our car, They have this open area beside the restaurant where they dry the woods to make charcoal. A good place to take a lot of Insta worthy pictures (:
The restaurant was really cosy, just outside the window there's a river. The view is already making everything better~ The food was good too but the portions are slightly smaller.
It's about an hour drive down to Noboribetsu~ As we still need to rush down to Hakodate we only dropped by to see Jigokudani (Hell Valley). It's free of charge to visit but the parking is chargeable at
300 Yen if I remembered correctly. The weather is cloudy when we just arrived, but it started to drizzle shortly after.. meh, 6 degrees when I look at the temperature and we all have to change to thicker clothing.
They have a footbath around 1.7km from the entrance, sadly it was closed for the winter period. So we only can walk around nearby. We spend about an hour there to sight see and take a lot of pictures of course (:
Here comes my virgin drive overseas, makes me feel like a noob. We don't need to drive 2.5 hours to get to somewhere in Singapore. So it's a longggg drive down to Hakodate, and we got to try to reach before sunset because there are no street lights on their expressway.
Got there slightly before time but the sun is already setting, so we head to the hotel straight. The hotel we are staying is Four Points by Sheraton I loved that the morning fish market is just like 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Super convenient ~ After checking in and settling down it was about 8 pm. Most of their shops are either closed or closing. The Hotel staff recommended us to take a less than 10 minutes walk to a street nearby where their food stalls open till 11 pm. Any food will do for us cause we were HUNGRYYY af. We basically went into the first food stall we see and it's Ramen and it was heavenly~
Decided to end our day after our dinner because everyone is tired. So, that's it for our first day in Hokkaido :) Here's a snap story for day 1.
Beautiful day
